What's the worth of an egg?

Life in Mozambique is hard and most people cannot afford to eat meat. In fact it is common to have salad and bread for breakfast. Most of them eat a cornmeal mush call shima and little else.

Besides rice and bean, an egg is a simple source of protein. A dozen eggs cost US$2.00. At the orphanage, they feed a semi-cooked (looks raw to me) egg to a baby or small child who has been sick or need to gain weight.

You may buy one hard boiled egg on the street for 20 cents. You see young men and children like the one in the picture selling these eggs.

That is why MozOvos, the egg company started by Rodger and Lynne Schmidt, WorldVenture missionaries, with financial backing from some US businessmen, means a great deal to this country. Beside producing eggs to sell to the people. MosOvos is providing jobs for eight interns who are training for ministry. It also provides jobs for people of the community. Many people are impacted for the Lord through the honest practices of the business and the sharing from the lives of the interns. Because of MozOvos and the internship, two churches are in the beginning stages of life! And, we have had a part in starting one of them!
It has been a wonderful privilege to work alongside Rodger and Lynne as well as the interns for these three months.

Serving faithfully and loving it,

Ken and Arlene Flurry

WOW.....we take so much for granted in the USA. God bless Lynne and Rodger for their work there. God bless you dear friends and thank you for your many years of serving Him. You go and do what we can't and we are grateful. We can and do pray for you as you do God's work. We pray for a safe return home. God is good.
