Celebration

Words that describe how we felt on the weekend of July12-13 are many--wonderful, exciting, joyful, gratefulness, humbled, blessed, honored, thankful to God! We were on our way to Mozambique but with a five-day stop in Brazil.

Ken was asked to be the main speaker at the 2008 graduation of the seminary SEBANOP. That was quite an honor! This was the seminary we started in 1989 with our Brazilian colleague, Pastor Celso Buzzo. In this graduating class was our dear friend and disciple, Paulinho Pinheiro.

Paulinho and his wife, Carminha, became dear friends as we mentored them in their Christian walk. Now their daughter, Thais, lives with us when we are stateside. She is a student at Denver Seminary.

Sunday completed our celebration as we celebrated 30 years of PROMIFE (Vacation Missionary Project) There were two hundred and twenty-six participants. Most were from Brazil, five from Angola and eight from USA. Some of the participants of those first years of PROMIFE spoke encouraging words to the young people who were going to stay the week and visit the homes in Santa Rita. We saw the second generation taking up the challenge.

We heard one of the young pastors who was the fruit of a PROMIFE give his testimony. He is the pastor of one of the churches Ken and I started.

Blessed be the LORD!

Ken and Arlene
